Why I’m Here (and maybe you too)
Welcome to my humble abode!
I imagine you made your here because you have some sort of interest in data analysis. If so, and you see some of my work, feel free to pick it apart because that’s the reason I’m here.
Who am I? You can refer to me as the guy who knows how to visualize better than you. You can also call me TJ. Either way works for me but just know…I can visualize better than you. If you’ve made it this far I’ll let you in on the secret…that’s the pun of this website. I’m attempting to learn this stuff and if I’m a betting man, I’m probably not better than you at this stuff.
I’m here to document my learning. I’ve been trying to learn tools like SQL, tableau, python, R, etc. for awhile. And I have retained some of that information which is great but, if I’m honest, 90%+ of that information is in one ear and out the other. It’s extremely hard to learn this stuff when you don’t use said stuff all the time.
So, what’s the point of this and why are you reading this now? That my friend, is a phenomenal question. This is where this portfolio/blog/newsletter/website/etc. comes into play. I need a place where I cannot only document my work but also put pen to paper so to speak. I want to go through these courses, take notes, and really have a place I can complain and vent about them here. Because if there’s anything I’ve learned about these tools so far is that errors come up and they can be impossible to figure out. At least until you have them figured out. But that process is frustrating and here I will go through those problems. My overall goal for this thing here is to develop new skills. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. I do hope a couple people follow along and can critique my work, give pointers, and maybe even submit work as courses can get boring.
If you do happen to stumble across this, I imagine you are here for one of I would say three reasons:
You have a vested interest in data analysis
You want to learn data analysis
You fall under the ‘friends/family’ discount and I told you to be here
Any of those reason above is a reason to engage and here’s why:
If you have a vested interest in data analysis you probably do it for a living and are actually good at this stuff. If that’s the case hopefully you reach out and engage. I want your help. If you don’t do it for a living you just like data analysis blogs? I will say that’s a rare case but, welcome and feel free to reach out.
You’re like me…you have so called ‘ambitions’ or just want to learn something new in the hopes it gets you somewhere different. What’s somewhere different? No idea, only time will tell.
I told you to be here…enjoy!
So, I’ll end this long winded opening opener with, welcome. I’m glad you’re here. Check out my work. I’m trying to get better. And remember, I’m better at visualizing data than you.
